A ten-minute-walk leads you in a very interesting village from the historical and artistic point of view, of Etruscan origin with testimonies
of Middle Ages and Renaissance. Cittą della Pieve is located at the end of Perugia province, facing Valdichiana, area on the border among Perugia, Siena and Terni. Its greatest expression is the drawing of Pietro Vannucci, called "Il Perugino", born in Cittą della Pieve and Raffaello's teacher. The most important moments of the year go with festivity and typical celebration involving and embellishing the village: - "I Quadri Viventi", at Easter, showing Christ's life performed by people of the town; - "Il Presepe Monumentale" in the evocative underground of della Corgna palace; - "L' Infiorata", flooding with colours and smells of grass and flowers, the main road. - "Il Palio dei Terzieri" performed the third Sunday of August; is the warmest festivity and it shows a splendid Medieval parade and an archery competition. |
